The Green Abyss: A Guide to the Fiendish Fey of Selva Oscura

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Welcome to Selva Oscura, where carnivorous faeries giggle from the shadows and swollen fungi dance in the gloom. In this feytouched layer of the Abyss, courts of demonic fey vie constantly for power beneath the twisted boughs of hungry trees. The ruins of fey palaces are picked over by carrion sprites while twisted hags plot their wicked schemes. And slumbering at the center is the still living corpse of an unimaginably ancient demon lord from which all this verdant madness sprouts.

This 400+ page sourcebook is intended to give DMs the resources they need to create an entirely different kind of Feywild oriented adventure from the ones they may know

Selva Oscura: The primary setting of this supplement is a Feytouched layer of the Abyss which connects to all the plantlife of the Lower Planes. Featuring comprehensive material on how to construct and characterize the setting, including location suggestions, encounters, as well as travel and pursuit mechanics, this product gives DM's everything they need to create a fiendish Feywild adventure!
170+ NPC's: A setting is no good without people to fill out its ranks, and this product features a staggering number of named NPC's, each with unique personalities and motivations.
6 Major NPC Factions: The major players in Selva Oscura are the demonic plant filled Mandrake Court, Zuggtmoy's foul Court of Rot, the warlike anti-heroes of the Court of Iron, and Lolth's dogmatic Court of Silk, not to mention the heroic Court of Stars and the humble Vergil's Lantern Bearers guild. Each of these factions comes with a myriad of interesting NPC's, motivations, adventure prompts, and relevant locations.
85+ Distinct Statblocks: To supplement D&D's often neglectful approach to the Feywidl, this supplement contains statblocks for a myriad of new monsters, including demonic trees, dangerous plants, evil fauns, corrupted elementals, and so on.
65+ Statblock Adjustments: In addition to the unique statblocks, this supplement also features a diverse array of simple, aesthetic and flavorful adjustments that can be applied to statblocks found in the Monster Manual and Mordekainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse to repurpose them as new creatures, giving DMs an idea on how to expand the usefulness of monsters they already have. This includes over 20 lineage adjustments to represent the people native to the Feywild, such as elves, goblins, harengon, bullywugs, and firbolg.

CW: Please be aware that this product draws inspiration from the darker side of fairy tales, and touches on subjects such as body horror, toxic relationships, manipulation, addiction, and slavery. Please be sure to consult with your table before including any elements like this in your games.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
