Fantasy Grounds 'Aspect Of The Bear' extension

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Fantasy Grounds 'Aspect Of The Bear' extension for use with 'Fantasy Grounds VTT'. This extension doubles the maximum, lift, push, and drag encumbrance values on your character sheet.

To use this extension, go to the 'Abilities' tab on your character sheet and drag on one of the provided shortcut, from the reference manual 'usage' section of the included module, onto the character sheet.

Alternatively, go to the 'Features' or 'Abilities' tab on your character sheet, use the 'Edit List' button at the bottom right, and then use the 'Add Item' button on the 'FEATURES' or 'TRAITS' line to create a new Feature or trait and set this to 'Aspect Of The Bear'.

Your character sheet should now be showing double encumbrance values.

RULESET : 5E

Fantasy Grounds Forum (Cut'n'Paste): https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?63812-extension-Aspect-Of-The-Bear-Extension

NOTE:

THIS EXTENSION IS NOW NOT REQUIRED AS THE RULESET HAS ADDED THE ABILITY TO ADD A FEATURE WITH 'Aspect Of The Bear' to your character.

I have left the module available to have an easy you to drag in the trait.

Notes.

   1. If you used the 'Edit List' method and hand added the 'Aspect Of The Bear', the encumberance will only update once you have clicked away from the edit line text. ( ie. Will not update if you can still see the 'cursor' showing some place on the text line. )

Update to v1.7

  • This version now requires the Forge 'B9's Common Core' extension and due to this is now only compatible with FG Unity.

Update to v1.6

  • Adjusted to reflect the ruleset changes.

Update to v1.5

  • Adjusted to keep support for 'feature' or 'trait' version of 'aspect of the bear'

Update to v1.4

  • Fixed an issue when '5E - auto Encumbrance' is not enabled.

Update to v1.3

  • add support for '5E - Auto Encumbrance', ( Calls the '5e auto encumbrance' update on load change function, when the other encumbrance values change. Which will happen when adding 'Aspect of the bear'. Note. due to how FG works the add/remove of the effects does not always update unless the 'inventory' part of the character sheet has been opened. )

Update to v1.2

  • Added a 'Feature' version of the 'Aspect Of The Bear'.

Usage...

Fantasy Grounds set up with the 'Aspect Of The Bear' extension and module.

My question is not specifically about this extension, but related given that you're creating them to interact with encumbrance. Would (or could) you create an extension that allows the DM to custom encumbrance values for each point of Strength? I would be very interested in purchasing such an extension.

Not sure on what you require, are you talking about the ability to change the default 'str*15' to say 'str*20' ie one value to change the 15->20 for the game. Are you talking a setting per player ? ( Some some players can have 'str*15' and others 'str*12' ? ) Or are you talking about str=8 * 15, str=9 *16, ie a table per value of str for the multiply/total from 1->30 ? ( Again per game or per player ? )

I use A LOT of extensions for FGU playing D&D 5e and I observe the variant rule for encumbrance, but even the variant isn't what I want. Point being, I also use a mod that automatically tracks the encumbrance of my players and it applies penalties based off the the variant encumbrance rule for 5e, but what I'd like is to be able to increase/decrease the encumbrance values for each player. However, based on the way you framed your question, it seems that the only alternative I might have is possibly coding a toggle to the multiplier whereas encumbered could be 6* or 7* the players STR rather than current 5* of the variant rule.

IDEALLY, I'd want to purchase an extension that would allow me to completely set the carrying values for each point of STR and custom set the encumbrance thresholds for each point of STR, but a simple toggle that would allow me to change the current variant from 5x to 6x-8x would be great. John Waite has a fantastic extension called auto encumbrance, but I'd like additional...See more

If you use a number of extensions for this sort of thing, I'd need to know how they interact and do the items. For example I have no idea if the John Waite extension had to code in these values for its processing. And so if I changed the character sheet points that calculated these values if they would be picked up or not. I was asking mainly if you wanted 'bob' to have a table to control the STR*+enc values and a possible different set for 'sue' or if one per 'game' applied to all characters as this makes a lot of difference on how it interacts with the code. As I say, these things can be done, but if it has to interoperate with a bunch of other extensions then these need to be listed and a reasonable definition of what table and how to edit/update this etc.. It might be best if you start a FG forum thread and then 'cut'n'paste' a link to it. As I'm not sure if it would be part of this or a different extension. And I dont want to 'confuse' people reading long chats about something not in the extension.

I've created
https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/315/view
which allows the host to set the 4 values to deal with encumbrance. Let me know in its forum page if this is more like what you would like. I will look to expand this with a table reference to map out the values, but that needs more looking at. Let me know on the forum if it conflicts with you extension set, as this is probably the next think that will need to be resolved before expanding the functions of the extension.

it doesn't seem to be working anymore! It is installed, I can access the B9 module and drag it to my abilities tab, but the carrying capacity remains unchanged!

did you previously have it on the character, because when you 'take it off' this does not re-calculate the carry amount, so when you add it back it might have put the same value back on. Try taking it back off and re-type your strength value back in on the first page. now check to see if you have the expected normal carry limit ( normally for medium its 15*str ), and then re-add it from the module. Also make sure you have the extension enabled as both are needed for it to work. I'll do a check later to see if an update to ruleset code has updated... but also try it with a new campaign and just the extension and module on a new character. If you want to add more information/pictures please add them to the fantasy grounds forum so I can see character sheet front page/abilities page/inventory page... then I can replicate the character and double check the numbers etc..

Just done a very quick character and test, on my 17 str dwarf initial carry was 255 and when i drag on the shortcut from the module this goes upto 510 as expected. Could you add some more information in the FG forum page, maybe list any other extensions just to see if its a conflict. Thanks.

extensions goes on the Dm side, and then dm loads the module, and this should make the module available for the player to also load...

so then a player can apply it as part of the character level upgrade.

Alternatively, just drag the Goliath racial trait onto your character sheet, which has the same effect.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
